Beetje een lang hoofdstuk.
Spoiler alert!
Never underestimate your enemies.

‘Granny didn’t know about you. So, since I’ve seen you taking off to the woods, I figured out you might be lost. You were lucky’, a low voice spoke.
‘I need a doctor’, someone possessing my mouth thought.
This time I woke up on the bench of a living room. A castle’s living room. There was a man speaking to me from the other side of the room. I couldn’t see his face but his scarf... looked familiar.
The man was busy making tea. He brought me some.
‘No, you don’t’, he decided. He had the sword charm on his table. To explain, he showed the little nasty thing. It was clear he’d taken his time to examine it.
‘This only contained a little of a potion that puts you into sleep. Quite harmless’
Okay, my mind was raging again. Jefferson was the victim this time.
‘You’d put it there, didn’t you? How else could you know? You did put that necklace around my neck. Why did you poison me?’
Katie wouldn’t do that to me. She knows I’m asleep. If she ever was real. Or was that dream my real past? No, I would be dead.
‘I got this strange dream’, I almost cried. ‘I saw someone getting... someone hopeless committing suicide’
He’d put away his cup. ‘Listen, it’s okay. You’re safe now’
‘I don’t know!’ I really had no idea. The only thing I knew for sure, is that this man had a chance to kill me. And he didn’t take it.
‘Are you an enemy of my dad?’
‘No’
‘Because, if you are, you’re better off killing me right now. I guarantee that he has no idea where I am, he might not even recognize me’, I shouted.
His voice made a calm shushing sound. All he wanted was me to take a sip of tea and calm down.
‘I have no intensions of killing you or doing any harm to you and your father’, he promised.
Finally my mind came to rest. This was something true I could hold on to. I remember his face, seeing he was a father. And he was, a small girl asked what was going on. He took her back to bed, like only a father could. I could imagine him tucking her in, whishing her nothing but the most beautiful dreams.
‘Will you help me?’, I asked as he came back.
‘Sorry, I have no idea where to find him’
That was disappointing. ‘But, can’t you at least tell me what is going on in this town? Why did I end up here? I can’t really remember who I am... Ever since my father died, my other one, my whole life is like one sick dream.’
‘Well, there is one thing for sure. It has to do something with magic. For most of us goes that we ended up here by a curse. Nobody remembered anything. My daughter, she didn’t remember me. But I remembered her. For 28 years I have been separated from her. Seeing her being happy without me. I couldn’t remember her of the land we came from, that would have been a cruel thing to do. So, you understand why I would help you’
‘It must have been hard’
‘You have no idea’
‘The father I’m looking for, lost me and my mother. He was taken away from her, for her own safety. When he returned, many years later, he saw me, mum and another guy. Being happy. He couldn’t return. He couldn’t know I was his daughter’
‘So I guess you have an idea’
‘It hurts like hell’
He left me to sleep on his sofa. I really liked him. He saved me. I could have nice dreams now he can keep me safe. He was just like that good guy in the dream.
The next morning he showed me all of storybrooke. First we had dinner at Granny's, then we went for a walk. He showed me were the library was, and the place I had woken up yesterday. He gave me some time alone, while he had to pick his child up from school. Meanwhile I could just take a look around in mister Gold’s shop. Stay there. Maybe get some memories back.
I had barely entered the shop. Everything went from slow to too fast to track. Suddenly the light went out. I had no idea where I was going. Strings were tied tight around my wrists. As the sack got of my head, a tree blocked my sight.
‘Why are you doing this to me?’
‘Someone wanted to meet you. Since I know what you are, this is the best for the safety of all of us. And, you owe me something’, mister Gold told me.
‘Uh... I might have lost my mind but isn’t this a bit... too much precaution?’
He was surprised. That surprised me.
His eyebrows lifted as he asked; ‘You don’t know what you are yet?’
Well, that summarised it. For the last hours, I had had no clue who I am. And I’ve just forgotten what I was looking for in this town. All my memories were; Jefferson, the dream and mister Gold himself. And now I added; abducted and left alone at a tree by mister Gold.
He had only be gone for a few minutes before someone showed up. At first, I was happy. Until I remembered the words of mister Gold.
‘Could you free me?’, I asked.
Something silver shattered the sunlight. It was hard to see, but it looked like... a hook.
‘Is that for real or I am I just imagining that that’s a hook?’, my thoughts spoke.
The man grinned at me with his dark grin. It didn’t make him look like a friendly man passing by at all. That probably mend the hook was really there.
‘I came to rescue you, my lady’, his dark voice said. It brought shivers to my back.
‘Please, don’t call me like that’, I begged.
‘Ok’, he said as he walked around the tree to which I was bound. ‘Then, what would you like, daughter of Aphrodite?’
He brought his face so close my eyes had to close. His cold metal hook stroke along my cheek. I didn’t like it. If he was up to no good, I couldn’t even defend myself or run away.
‘Just free me’, I whispered.
‘Oh, I will. But first, I want you to do something for me’
Before I could figure out what, he pushed a pin into my neck. And he pulled it out. Something inside of me changed. Together with my skin, it turned cold. Pale, like the moon. My thoughts. My heart, black as my hair, was rotting away.
‘You are going to kill the man that tied you up’, he commanded.
I felt anger, nothing but anger. That guy who abducted me was going down.

    Note
    Voor de nieuwsgierige;
*Pontianak; een vampierachtige geest uit Indonesië. Verschijnt vaak als een beeldschone vrouw met lang zwart haar dat over een gat in de nek (of rug) valt. Als zij een spelt in dat gat hebben, kunnen zij veranderen in een goede echtgenote. Om ze te vangen moet er een lint om een bananenplant gestrikt worden. Mocht dit lint ooit loslaten, dan zal zij degene die haar gevangen heeft vermoorden.
Indy is in dit verhaal er een. Ze is net wat anders dan de klassieke pontianak, maar het idee is hetzelfde. Het leek mij leuk om wat duistere oosterse sprookjesfiguren naar storybrooke te brengen.
