Who I am - Gedichtenwedstrijd opdr. 5

When I look in the mirror, what do I see?
A girl with blond hair and blue eyes.
But when I look closer, through the mask, inside.
I see all the things that looks can hide.

I’m like a book,
You can’t judge it by its cover.
You have to open it,
To see what it can offer.

I’m like a candle,
Trying to light up someone’s life.
But sometimes even the smallest wind,
I won’t survive.

I’m like a flower,
That still needs to grow.
It takes some time,
But at the end I will go.

I’m like a snowflake,
Quiet and small.
But also cold and hard,
If someone let me fall.

Though I am strong when I need to be.
But I need some space, cause I do want to be free.
I rather observe than stand in the spotlight.
I rather talk first than start up a fight.
