The Hunger Games

You awake with a sudden jolt.
The dream you had of home is already beginning to fade from your memory as you realize the place you are heading to will do anything it can to prevent you from leaving alive.
As the train stops,
you can already hear it: the great, booming heart of the city,
this realm of power and its brokers.
After you open the blinds,
you see it,
and with a sick shock,
you realize that they are cheering for you,
one of the 24 champions who will be killing and possibly dying for their entertainment.
You can already feel a part of your humanity slipping away,
as you wave back at the crowd and embrace the madness that will touch you in the coming events.
