The United States is gone. North America has become Panem, a TV-dominated dictatorship run from a city called the Capitol. The rest of Panem is divided into 12 Districts (the former 13th had the bad judgment to revolt and no longer exists). The yearly highlight in this nightmare world is the Hunger Games, a bloodthirsty reality TV show in which 24 teenagers chosen by lottery, one girl and one boy from each District, fight each other in a desolate environment called the ''arena.'' The winner gets a life of ease; the losers get death.

Our heroine is Katniss Everdeen , a resident of District 12. She lives in a desperately poor mining community called the Seam, and when her little sister, Primrose, is chosen as one of the contestants in the upcoming Hunger Games, Katniss volunteers to take her place. A gutsy decision, given the fact that District 12 hasn't produced a Hunger Games winner in 30 years or so, making them the underdogs of the twelve districts. She also has to deal with a romance between her and the male tribute from district 12, Peeta Mellark. A 16-year-old guy who once saved Katniss life to give her bread when she and her family was starving to death. The fact that he saved her life makes the decision to kill him harder. But she also promised Primrose to come back.

She doesn’t like to kill. But she doesn’t want to die either

We waste time looking for the perfect lover, instead of creating the perfect love.

Volgens mij klopt het allemaal (:
Ik houd mijn boekbespreking ook over The Hunger Games, :Y).

"No one is born in this world to be alone."~ (Saul, One Piece.)

It is better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven.

    I´m nothing special.

    The United States are gone.

The yearly highlight in this nightmare world are the Hunger Games

;Peeta Mellark,a 16-year-old guy who once saved Katniss life by giving her bread when she and her family were starving to death.

I've no idea of the future, but I can see the past quite well. And the present, if the weather's clear.

The US are gone, when she and her family were starving to death.

No growth of the heart is ever a waste

Zou het niet "The United States are gone," moeten zijn? Want US is meervoud...

En in dit stukje; "She also has to deal with a romance between her and the male tribute from district 12, Peeta Mellark. A 16-year-old guy who once saved Katniss life to give her bread when she and her family was starving to death," moet je een andere manier vinden om die twee zinnen aan elkaar te plakken, of ze een beetje veranderen.

Moet "The yearly highlight in this nightmare world are the Hunger Games" niet gewoon enkelvoud zijn. Het onderwerp is "the yearly highlight", in het enkelvoud, dus dan moet de persoonsvorm ook enkelvoud zijn, lijkt me.

... But I'm weak, and what's wrong with that?

the united states ARE gone. Meervoud

The former 13th made the bad decision to revolt/decided to revolt, despite common sense dicatating otherwise

    verder is het goed :D
