Ik wil graag jullie hulp vragen. 
Ik ben bezig om mevrouw Verene Shepherd een brief te schrijven, vanuit het oog van de/een Nederlander zelf. Het zou fijn zijn als jullie (niet op een haatdragende manier, dat helpt echt niet) punten aandragen die ik in het bericht kan verwerken, om zo een zo overtuigend mogelijk verslag te maken dat Zwarte Piet een kindervriend is - En niet het slachtoffer van onderdrukkend racisme. Ook zo het erg fijn zijn als een paar Engelse Grammar Nazi's (oei, eigenlijk wel een foute woordkeuze gezien het onderwerp xD) zich willen buigen over het kladje wat ik tot nu toe heb, zodat het ook serieus over komt. :]
Misschien kunnen we op deze manier een verslag vormen dat we met zoveel mogelijk mensen in kunnen sturen, om zo een statement te maken!
Dit is wat ik tot nu toe heb, leef je uit op hoe het beter kan en verbeter een end weg .... Dan komen we vanzelf vast en zeker bij een geweldige brief uit aan het einde van de rit. (: (Oh en als je liever zelf een mailtje stuurt: verene.shepherd@uwimona.edu.jm - Hou het alleen netjes en beschaafd ... We willen niet als holbewoners bestempeld worden)
Dear miss Verene,
I am Nancy Seton, a 22 years old from Rotterdam, The Netherlands. I am writing to you in the hope that I can get your sincere attention and in the hope to shed some different light on the opinion you have stated to have formed already, on an ancient tradition we Dutch people celebrate each year. Sinterklaas.
I have to say I was shocked at least to find out the US has started to bend over the discussion that has lighted up more severe this year then any other. It saddens me to see and hear how easily people all around the world are putting a stamp of racism on our heads, without fully knowing the (positive, mind I tell you that) impact this tradition has had on the people living here for over centuries. But then I must also state that I can imagine how weird it must look from the outside world, just how we celebrate this particular tradition. And that is why I want to be patient and send you this letter in a neatly way.
I, and 96% of the Dutch people (shown by statistics all over the country) firmly do not believe this tradition to be racist. On the contrary. I could bombard you with stories, opinions and facts on why this is not the case, but I will just tell you this;
Every year, halfway through november usually, little children all over the country start getting happy butterflies. Why? Because Sinterklaas is on his way ofcourse!
If you listen carefully enough when strotting the streets, in whatever corner of our land, there you can hear the lovely, proud and hopeful singing of little children, waiting for Black Pete to show up in the middle of the night, when every living soul in the household is fast asleep, to bring them presents.
I like to tell you miss, the kids here adore Black Pete. Most of the times a lot more then Sir Sinterklaas himself, who quite frankly scares them sometimes, knowing he knows who is a good child or not!
This figure, Black Pete, who has become the main attention point of global media attention, who joyfully likes to be a childs friend
