    Welkom in mijn layout shop!


    Het is alweer een tijdje terug sinds ik laatst zo'n soort topic heb beheerd, maar aangezien ik de laatste tijd belachelijk veel layouts heb gecreëerd, leek het me een poging waard. Ik maak layouts voor profielen, roleplay personages en stories. Vraag gerust aan, maar lees wel eerst de gebruiksaanwijzingen!

    hello there, it's your friendly neighborhood mentally ill writer who doesn't publish any writing.
    my name is cynical, i am 18, and i have stuck to this site like a fly to a spider's web for quite a while now. i'm mostly keeping my sticky legs attached to it because making pretty lay-outs makes me happy, and because a lot of my old (deactivated) writing is preserved on here and i enjoy to self reflect.
    some of my interests contain horror, hannibal, death note, psychology, and forensic science.

    Gabriele doesn't carry many nicknames around with her. She was named after Archangel Gabriel, which in the most literal sense translates into "Hero of God", but is more commonly known to mean "God is my strength" (but it doesn't mean that - all angels are epithets of God, so their names reflect this, which for whatever reason is important to write here). Goddard means "brave" or "strong".

    Though I have no set age in mind for Gabriele, she's somewhere between her late teens and early twenties (presumably closer to the latter than the former). Her character voice relies on a certain rationale and stoicism (at times bordering on cynicism), which makes her come off as decently mature. However, in her internal monologue there are plenty of more humorous quips that can be youthful, which, mixed with her sense of feeling like she is not in control of her own life, reveals she really isn't that old at all. Nonetheless, I'd argue she's fearless and intelligent enough to be mistaken for somebody older. Maybe. I don't know man I haven't written her story yet.

    Communication with the dead is difficult, and actually receiving proper attention to detail, such as names, places, or dates, are nearly impossible. At times you'll receive such a detail, but it's very rare that what you receive is actually correct. It's easier to see faces, understand someone's mannerisms and personality, and their desires. Percy is no exception in this. Rather, he is the prime example to the protagonist. "Percy" is the name Astrid hears initially, but there is never any kind of last or middle name presented, meaning this is all we know.

    Again, attention for detail is hard to catch when speaking to ghosts. Percy appears as most certainly an adult, but young enough to still be considered young. Astrid estimates him as somewhere between 21 and 29; as Percy's life story goes on, she pins him closer to 29 than to 21. All of that said, it's possible he only appears as around Astrid's age because it's the era of his body that stuck with him best, and died older - though he does appear to not have grown very old. His life was cut short.

    The story takes place when the narrator is in her late teens or early twenties. She doesn't specify. She lives somewhere in the mid(?) 19th century (I have yet to decide).

    gender & sexuality:

    The narrator was born female, but talks at length of wishing they were born male. Initially she tends to confuse strangers because of the clothing she's wearing, making them think she's a man. She finds rationality and courage, which during her time period are perceived as predominantly masculine attributes, very important qualities, and scorns at the thought of not maintaining them. She expresses deep shame at moments of irrationality and cowardice. In spite of all of that, it's important to know she was born a girl and lived only as such, as it's too integral to the story and what happens to her (and why it happens to her) to hide this.

    She is bisexual, which may be part of the reason as to why she wishes to be male (on top of basic gender dysphoria); because she is aware she loves women the way that men are supposed to love women, and knows this is not accepted of her. She isn't entirely sure whether she's attracted to men, but does know she associates them with being in love, if only because she was taught that she lives to fall for them. She can however not recall a single man she's known who has ever peaked her interest prior to meeting her tormentor (with whom you can hardly call her relationship voluntary). She does wish to be loved, but not necessarily to love herself (which is of course very normal for her age).

    GENDER & SEXUALITY:

    Mara is a cisgender woman who cares little for social convention.She does understand gender as a whole as a learned system rather than something innate, but doesn't really care to reshape the presentation she was taught to have, as she knows very well how to use this to her advantage. She kind of enjoys being underestimated, she thinks it's funny. It also makes it easier to shock people without being morally transgressive (due to how hypercritical society is of women). She is hyper aware that most things that teach you how to act are social constructs, and baybey she's got the soul of a performer so she'll figure out a way to make her role interesting.
    She's bisexual and has known this since she was a kid. Never really fell for the idea that she'd only like people of the opposite gender - she's just always done whatever she wants. In relationships with women she's exclusively the more dominant partner, and with men she also ends up in this role most of the time (despite trying out a submissive role for kicks (she's a bit of a masochist), she just can't do it in earnest, it's always a bit. She just can't take their attempts at dominance seriously). She likes to provoke powerful and dangerous men, too, which, as mentioned before, is mostly a bit as well, but often remains at enough of a distance to never be forced into a position of degradation (which she knows she wouldn't like). She does very much so enjoy the power struggle, though, and her most erotic and emotionally fulfilling "situationships" are usually horror stories to everyone else lmao. Anyway, sadomasochism is definitely her go to - it's the only language that really does it for her, but she finds BDSM to be too predictable, so for both urges (as she likes being in both roles) she, as said, will usually just put herself in dangerous situations. She's a thrillseeker and a troublemaker - an adrenaline junkie, if you will. This does not mean she takes her tendency to violent eroticism seriously whatsoever - the kind of desire and sadomasochism she has really have little to do with low self esteem or shame, she just thinks they're fun. It does not resemble self-harm in her case, she's just weird.
    She is very sexually open and experiences little shame. She sleeps around a lot (mainly because she's bored) but doesn't feel fullfilled in these relationships much. Mara isn't the type to get attached much at all. She doesn't especially crave it from the people she comes across, and is just naturally more distant emotionally - she has an all or nothing mentality. Either she's deeply obsessed or she doesn't really care much at all. It doesn't help that she's virtually incapable of taking off one of her many personas in front of those who catch her fancy, always on some layer of pretense with them. She wants very intense relationships, but nobody seems to be able to match this intensity, leaving her bored. The sex and relationships she has are mainly a distraction to her. Not to say she's aromantic, she just has yet to come across her type lol. Like she's had obsessions with people before (this is her sincerest form of communicating desire: obsession), they just either didn't live up to her expectations, or the relationship proved too destructive in some manner to continue - usually both at once.

    Given that Mara is just the resurrected version of an older character I wrote in high school of a story not worth reviving with its original plot, she is just a woman living in a big city who has studied criminal psychology and abuses her knowledge to seek out horrible men so she can psychologically torture them. And is an unprofessional unlicensed detective who breaks the law to catch and expose abusive or murderous men just for kicks and the art of solving interesting puzzles with unconventional methods. And has dysfunctional relationships with women probably. She's a mad genius sort of character - brilliant but a nutcase (with specifically antisocial personality disorder).

    MENTAL HEALTH:
    Bipolar disorder type 1 (full manic episodes (though they have a range - some are closer to hypomania), depressive episodes lack suicidality or self-loathing and display more as perpetual boredom and numbness + self-isolation & lack of interest in much of anything. She considers her manic self her "true" self, but feels she has to repress this self to a degree because she is so dangerously impulsive and thrill-seeking during her manic episodes. It's 100% bipolar disorder, but she views it as almost a "Jekyll & Hyde" sort of arrangement, but they're both her and she knows they're both her, just so jarringly different she has to use symbolism to explain herself). (also jekyll & hyde isn't actually about a "split personality" at all it's about disASSOCIATION of parts of identity, not DISSOCIATION from them, the book is literally just about an evil guy with a shape shifting potion, but okay)
    She also has ASPD. Was diagnosed at 13-14 with conduct disorder for displaying some kind of continuous violence against others, must've been forcibly hospitalized at the time, and is now more functional and no longer hurts other people (nor does she break other laws much, unless she can reason with people that it's morally necessary). Still deals with practically the entire package though, just has learned to effectively manage her symptoms (lack of remorse (can cognitively empathize extremely well though, but again, it's a cognitive thing), still manipulative but now takes her compulsive lying to people she has no intention of being close to and no longer manipulates because she's trying to have emotional needs met or stir up shit, disregard for her personal safety (takes responsibility over other people's safety by not interacting with them altogether), impulsivity, irresponsibility in the workforce/school; struggles with thrill-seeking behavior such as pyromania, substance abuse, flirting with or provoking known felons). I'd say she does have a strong moral compass, but it's not something emotion driven, more of a worldview she has. She doesn't feel her compassion, but she does very strongly believe that innocent people should not be harmed and is willing to protect them (which is also why she consistently seeks out felons). I'd say her sense of justice is quite strong, she just can't be ragebaited about it lol.
    Has some very early developmental trauma that must be responsible for her personality disorder. Combination of emotional neglect and physical abuse probably. She was taken by CPS when she was 8 or 9 so what happened before that is why she has ASPD now. But, again, she got out and doesn't really have much emotional baggage anymore. I'd say she's actually very happy and functional in her day to day life now, so her therapy worked.
    Oh and she definitely has ADHD but is probably medicated for this. It's possible she has autism (based on the way she thinks; her interests are very intense, she has a disregard for social norms and likes to sincerely question them on a deep intellectual level, and is just intelligent in the way that a lot of autistic people are), but it's hard to tell because it could also just be ASPD symptoms and being highly intelligent (hoogbegaafd heeft geen goede Engelse vertaling? Ok I guess) in her case.

    PAST:
    Born an accident (possibly as a result to SA, otherwise probably sex work to pay for an addiction), lived in a highly unstable household (trailer trash kinda poor) where she was physically abused and otherwise almost entirely neglected, mother likely had severe mental health problems or an addiction, or both. Might've moved around different caretakers a lot to be rid of her. At 8 or 9 the government found out that she existed and she was taken away by CPS and given to a foster family.     NAME & AGE:

    FULVIA means "tawny, blonde one"
    PELPHREY means someone in charge of high-bred riding horses
    These additional meanings are not relevant to her character. Her first name is a traditional Roman name, which is a common origin for District Two citizens. More importantly, it's the name of the historical wife of senator Mark Anthony, who influenced her husband and in that way played a vital role in politics behind the scenes, which, most famously, resulted in the assassination of Cicero (another politician).
    The most common nickname for her is "Via", which she's fine with.
    At her time of volunteering, Fulvia was 18 YEARS OLD. Fulvia very deliberately sat her time out until she was 18, aware she’d have the best chance at winning if she did. She once had planned to volunteer before, when she was 14, but was beaten to it by another girl. In hindsight, she thinks this was a good thing, as she was much better trained at eighteen than she was at fourteen.

She does not live in a world where you can easily detach yourself from the role you're given when born, so she has never really considered herself as different than a woman, but does hate being perceived as one. She knows she is better at being a man than most people who live as one, and it pisses her off that she has to work so hard to be seen in a similar light.

    She has her sexual awakening in the games when hunting Chip Harrow (the girl from District Three) for sport, because sadism is not really accepted in most other contexts, and sadism is one of the few things that does it for her. Fulvia feels everything very intensely, and her desire mixes easily with bloodlust. Outside of the hunt she does love, and she does so deeply, but tries to stay at a distance from her object of affection. Despite all her brutality, this love is sincere - very sincere, which can make it so confusing for others to witness.
    She attaches to people in the most extreme of ways and usually goes mad over it.
    She usually feels most comfortable around women and is thus romantically attracted to them most often. She has a loathing and envy for men (for getting the default role of masculinity), but if her own dominance were to be welcomed, it'd be possible for her to love one of them, too. As a career district the risk of taking tesserae is entirely absent, of course, but other necessities, such as clean drinking water, clothes, menstrual products, and so on can still be difficult to get your hands on. The promise of money was one of the main reasons for Fulvia to volunteer for the Hunger Games.
    She herself grew up in a butchershop without her biological parents, as her father (a low ranking Peacekeeper) abandoned her and her mother (a street performer who later died from complications from childbirth) when Fulvia was born. This meant she was adopted by a family for the sake of more tesserae into a life of survitude.
